Our Staff

Our highly qualified and appreciated staff is rated as one of the best in Oklahoma City.  Having cared for, in some cases, generations of residents our staff excels in all areas of service.  Below is a summary of Bellevue's services.

Nursing

Some residents spend only a short time in a nursing home; others spend the rest of their lives there. Two types of nursing levels of care are offered at Bellevue: Extended Stay & Skilled Nursing Care.

Extended Stay is for people who are recovering from a disabling injury or illness and temporarily need help as they regain the strength and balance to be independent again.  Extended Stay is also an option for people with chronic disease or increasing frailty who need assistance for a longer time. The basic services offered are: 

• Bathing

• Dressing

• Grooming

• Mobility / Getting Up / Down / Around

• Toileting

• Medication Administration

• 24 Hour Oversight & Assistance

Skilled Nursing offers 24-hour medical care as well as the above services.  A licensed physician supervises each patient’s care.  Skilled Nursing includes services of trained professionals that are needed for a limited period of time following an injury or illness:  

• An R.N. doing wound care and changing dressings after a major surgery, or administering and monitoring I.V. antibiotics for a severe infection.

• A physical therapist helping to correct strength and balance problems that have made it difficult for a patient to walk or get on and off the bed, toilet or furniture.

• A speech therapist helping a person regain the ability to communicate after a stroke.

• An occupational therapist helping a person relearn independent self-care in areas such as dressing, grooming and eating.

Therapy

We are committed to helping people regain function, mobility, and independence.  Professional therapists work closely with residents in a restorative program carefully designed to help each person reach their maximum level of independence.  The rehab center includes a gymnasium and therapy rooms with the latest equipment.  Our goal is to help people return to their own homes with renewed confidence and capabilities.

PHYSICAL THERAPY

• Builds & strengthens muscles.

• Enhances physical coordination.

• Restores mobility.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

• Focuses on increasing self-care skills such as eating, dressing, grooming, bathing, and toileting.

• Teaches use of adaptive equipment.

• Develops upper body fine motor skills.

• Increases strength and endurance.

SPEECH THERAPY

• Teaches / restores speech affected by a stroke or other disease.

• Training of swallowing techniques to reduce fear of choking.
